Well, over the holidays I didn't do much, I was ill again, so I made the most of my time and did aflios essay for French. I read the Doll's House for history, and also my father's Glory, and the Perks of being a Wallflower, they are both interesting to write about for the Literature assessment, and now that Scott has given us a handout with what he wants I can get cracking with it.
The French assesments are out of the way, and it's going alright.
I need to finish the assesment on Versailles, and give jerry the previous assesment.
so let's see what I have for this week:
1> Finish the essay on the treaty of Versailles.
2> Give Jerry his assesment.
3> Arrange the oral presentation for Jerry's class.
4> Get going with the Literature essay.
5> Research the next History assesment.
Not much to do, but important.

Easter!
Well, I keep getting ill. It sucks, I've even been missing work!
At least I'm up to date like with the assessments.
We didn't have comunications last wee, so jerry still hasn't got my assessment. I need to make sure he gets it.
The studying goes well for French and History. I should do well in the exams.
Now, for the holidays:
1> Have fun.
2> Do not work much.
3> Relax
Just kidding!
1> Read the free choice book for Literature.
2> Read the Doll's House.
3> Keep an eye on the SAAS applications, they should be opening the 2009/10 campaign soon.
4> Research the Treaty of Versailles for History.

Hanging in there
So, I have most of my stuff done from last week.
The flag research is done, but I don't think it's gonna be any good for the history research paper. Problem is, I do not know what to do for it.
I've not handed out the history essays, not both of them. It seems like Evan didn't receive my email.
I finshed reading The Awakening, and it sucks! Now I just need to reed Doll's house and get going wioth the essay.
Study for history... sure!

The Plan
Yesterday, we were asked to come up with a study plan for today's class. Mine was as follows:
1> Check out funding for university
2> Check out accomodation for university
3> check out job oportunities for university
4> Work out a budget for university
5> Update the blog
6> If there was any time left, work on the Communications outcome 3.
The class has been rather productive, I have found oout a little bit more about funding that I could be elegible for, which takes a great weight o my shoulders. Anyways, I can't rely on that alone, just because I am elegible does not mean that I will get it, so I better raise the money mysel, and if I end up not needing it, I can use it to support myself through the year.
The Plan, I think it was a good idea, mainly because having it on paper prevented me from forgetting the thigs that I wanted to check out. There's still much more work that I need to do, I couldn't do anything for Communications, and I realised that I can't realisticaly come up wit a budget (to now how much I will have to work during the year) before I have a better idea of what funding I will be getting, or how much my accomodation could be, that will be possible during the summer at the earliest.
I think that's me for the time being, I liked planning my own time, and having the rest of the class and Dieca to consult on if need be.

Break is over!
25th of February
So, we just finished the break, and I had set myself some work to do during it. I was planning on finshing 'La gloire de mon pere', and try to read the two books we have to read for literature. I have not done it. I also intended to finish the history essays, and I didn't do it either. Reason why: I was working all the time. Self reflection: I need to balance class work and work, I know I need to save up to be able to afford university next year, but if I failed this course before making it to uni, it would all be useless. So, for this week:
1> Finish the History essays.
2> Finish the communications exercises.
3>Read the books and plan the essays on them.
4> Start researching a bit about the French/History essay.
That is more than plenty, the real challenge is getting it done, while working, and balancing it all properly.
That's me for today.

Practical reading tips
So, I haven't been updating the blog for a while, been caught up in my own personal drama,. Here I am now though, and I'm going to get cracking with it.
This week we got a handout on reading tips to help uswith all the reading we have to do for the different assignments due. The tips provided in it are helpful for not only short essays, but for when we have to deal with extended reading, and reading lists.
I tried putting into practice what I got from the handout, and I have to say that I found some of it to be rather helpful.I have to admit that I didn't follow all of the steps for I used it to produce a short essay and we were already provided with the reading to use. I found particularly helpful the reading with a purpose bit, and having a notepad with me to extract the ideas that became the spine of my essay. Also, the skimming proccess was interesting, what I did, is that before reading in detail, I quickly went over it and underlined the titles, and headings to use as landmarks to go back to, and to mark when to pay close attention because it was getting into what I was looking for.
So, all and all, I think this had some very helpful techniques that I will put into practice from now on.
Now, the targets for this week are:
1. Finish the History essay by Friday.
2. Watch 'La lengua de las Mariposas'
3. Revise the french grammar notes for the conditional form.
4. Read up to page 53 of 'La gloire de mon pere'
5. Email the Students advise centre at the University of Manchester.
